Described by one angler as ‘Gods Acre’, Ledcrieff – or the ‘Brochan Loch’ (actually six acres) to give the loch its original name, offers the visiting angler a secluded bolt hole providing total peace and a real chance of some really big fish, not to mention the epic top of the water sport.
See you on the water!
Ledcrieff Trout Fishery is nestled in the heart of the Sidlaw Hills between Dundee & Blairgowrie, nearby the Rivers Tay, Ericht, Isla & Tummel. Ledcrieff is a crystal clear loch full of hard fighting, fully finned Rainbow, Blue, Tiger, Brook & Brown Trout up to 15lbs.
Ledcrieff Loch is preserved as a fly-fishing only loch. Having been rescued from a history of neglect many many years ago, the owners have restored it to the great healthy condition it is in today, with anglers coming from all over the UK to visit what has been described as Scotlands prettiest small fishery.
To find our fishery head to Tullybaccart halfway between Dundee & Coupar Angus on the A923. You will come to the dog walkers car park opposite the entrance to the fishery. Take the forest road up past the farm and go through the gate and continue for around half a mile and you will arrive at the loch.
Take care on the forestry commission road as there are some potholes.
Our Fishery comprises of a 6-acre crystal clear peaceful woodland loch nestled below the Lundie Craggs. Ledcrieff or ‘The Brochan Loch‘ as it was originally named, is abounding with aquatic fly life, and as such, top of the water, sport can be something really special. The dry fly fishing in the summer months can be epic and has been the best many have visiting angler has experienced.
Top of the water sport can be enjoyed most of the year, even in the winter months. Buzzers, damsels, hedgehogs, hoppers alongside traditional patterns all work well. A 5/6 weight rod is more than suffice for most situations. Be warned though, these fish are strong and many a leader gets shattered. A good strong fluorocarbon with a low diameter is highly recommended.
For those of you who enjoy top of the water sport and have never visited Ledcrieff, you are in for a real treat! Hope to see you on the water soon!
Another great weekend at Ledcrief over 100 fish to the net for 4. Top of water tactics working well also lures just good fishing and quality fish hard fighting out of the water as soon as you strike brilliant. Going back this weekend again happy days. Will try to better our record for 1 day of 25 to the net for 2 of us 50 for the day and lost as many.

It’s a brilliant wee lake to fish and the setting of the lake is spectacular, with plenty of fish caught over the 3 days that we fished the lake, with Browns, and blues, & rainbows two of the Blue’s that we’re caught were over 5lb, all the fish that were caught all put up a great fight, anyone thinking of fishing this lake it’s a must you won’t be disappointed thanks again.

Fished the water today had a good days fishing 4 landed 1 lost, I fished the cabin end across the oncoming wind with a 12s yellow dancer on slow retrieve. After multiple tugs I shortened the tail it done the trick. I will go again if in the area. Great Hospitality from 2 guys
